Almost May and we've been silent as the grave over here in little old Mildura.

There's no excuses for it really but we're back and that's the first step.

There have been some changes, we are now a private space that opens only on Market days, the third Sunday of the month and of course you are welcome to drop in when we are hanging around and getting some stuff done. We also attend more markets!

Saturday in the studio!

It's been another busy Saturday in the studio and we've been organising our fabric, tutu-ing it up and generally having a creative time

I made us a sandwich board sign from some staff planners and a childs blackboard while mum made tutu's and baby boots :)

Can't wait for you to come in and see them!

Hey ho,

PJP is having their first meeting this TUESDAY the 2nd at 7pm and we're going to shake things up a bit.

Let's do away with Tuesday Meetings and instead, let's meet at The Office or Enjoy wine for an hour and read poetry, prose, stories or just drink a coffee in good company.

Let's make stuff on Saturday afternoons! and not just any stuff, let's make a BOOK! Let's not worry about trying to run workshops and events and everything, Janelle can do that.

Come and join us. Come and read the stuff you write when you dream, come and make the book you want to read! Come and celebrate that book at the Mildura Writers Festival!

Let's drop all the crap that's disillusioning all of us and Make Something we can be proud of!

A new year

Table shots from our first market in Merbein for 2010. It was a lovely day, not too hot for once!

Well peeps, 2010 is here and there's no avoiding it any longer.

My mum has moved to Mildura and we've been busy unpacking but stopped long enough to have some studio time during the week and of course we were open Saturday, 10-4, just like the door says.

We also had our first market and it was a lovely day spent with michelle, roweena, and her three kids who had their skirt stall 'a bit of skirt' with us. You'll hear more about them later.

Well the local paper, the Sunraysia Daily are coming out today at 2pm for photos and editorial love. So we'll get the place spicky for the photo op!!

Then at 7:30 tonight we're hosting the PJP agm, come along if you're in town people!

lazy burning weather

It's a hot and lazy day, but far from being lovely like I normally find a hot lazy day, it was horrible.

Started badly, we couldn't find rib laid ivory paper in mildura. No where I say! so I gave up and drove to Merbein only to find I had left my keys at home!! By the time we got back (after a fruitless search for white baby clothes) it was so hot and sticky that we decided to not get back in the car.

There was no day today.

Finger puppet frenzy!

It was a finger puppet frenzy today as the Ink Table got covered with felty goodness.

A swarm of speckled frogs (without the speckles), Piggy pals and camel goodness took over the tables and the sewing machine for some wild puppet action.

It was a lovely market day today, lots of people and plenty of interest in The Ink Table!

We'd love to see you all again, drop by anytime you see us in the store and introduce yourself, come to a workshop or just wait until next market, we'll be there with bell on!

Poetic Justice Publishing workshop

Poetic Justice Publishing held their first workshop in our space today (of course, pjp is heavily weighted with The Ink Table's people but that's beside the point) and it was wonderful.

It has also made me realise that we may need even more space if we want more than 8 around the tables! I guess if we have bigger groups I'll just have to move my sewing machine!

Speaking of sewing machines, Sophie just moved in! We have our newest Ink Table member in the badge queen of the blogging world. We'll post photo's of her space soon so keep a look out!

It was a lovely day in the ink table, the girls came around in the morning to chat and admire the store while the babies played on the floor. The plumbers fixed the roof and the books grew in numbers! We're getting stocked slowly and have had more interest growing in our little country town.

Tomorrow there will be a writing workshop in the store at two in the afternoon held by Poetic Justice Publishing Inc. and we're hoping it goes swimmingly!

Another big day

It was another big day at The Ink Table, a family affair with a stream of visitors coming to check the place out.

Bailey's been chillin' in his Kindercot and making sure mummy and daddy remember to play with him at regular intervals.

It was productive time though, with more small vintage illustration journals being produced and stamped.

No real time in the studio tomorrow until after 2pm. But Bailey and I are there most of Monday so come have a look see.

Counter!

We're starting to really get settled in the studio. The counter is in and looking beautiful now that we've begun using it. We've also stared to make marvellous things in the space.

The feeling in the shop is beautiful.

We are another step closer to opening with the Writing Studio now featuring a beautiful desk ... courtesy of my sister Mary ... thanks so much! There will be a small gathering in the studio tomorrow as some of my family check it out. We look forward to welcoming the community in the weeks to come. Stay posted for details of our opening ...

Market day

I visited the Merbein market yesterday and it was a hive of activity! There were stalls stretched on both sides of Commercial street for several blocks and right past The Ink Table.

I picked up a couple of treasures - a very old copy of Pinocchio and an old English tin paint set in great condition.

I handed out a stack of flyers to let the community know that we will be opening soon. The Merbein Progressive Society that organises the market has been fantastic. They are very supportive of our venture and are keen to promote us.

My desk arrived yesterday and is perfect ... can't wait to put it to good use.

The Writing Studio

It's all happening! Today the power was switched on at The Ink Table. Moana's art studio is almost furnished and ready for our upcoming launch. My writing desk is in transit, and the bookshelf is slowly filling. I will be handing out flyers at The Merbein Market this Sunday to introduce the community to our exciting new venture. We can't wait to be up and running . . . and look forward to meeting you when our doors are open in the next couple of weeks. x Clare

Today we had our carpets cleaned, our furniture begining to move in and confirmation of our 10 copies of mixtape being personally collected from the wonderful Justine at Mixtapezine.com

Tomorrow our power gets turned on, my tables get moved in and journals start to be

made inside! My art supplies and paper begins to build up and thick beautiful art books are displayed.
